Retreat reminders :D

From Lance,

In a week or so, the Batch will have its retreat. In view of this, the Council would like to remind you of various obligations that an attendee has to fulfill in order to ensure a good experience for all of us.

FULL PAYMENTS (Php 2 000-) for the event is due tomorrow, Oct. 8. Those who can not conform with this must inform the Council as soon as possible so that some sort of promissory note can be made. The payment must then be made by the morning of the 15th of October so that the person in question can join the retreat. Otherwise, there is a high chance of him/her not being able to participate in it. There will be PCORI Representatives stationed at the caf entrance to receive your payments starting from 1500h to 1700h.

Aside from FULL PAYMENTS, agreement and consent forms must also be submitted by the 15th. Those who have lost their copy may get one from the 2nd floor photocopier. Those who will not comply will be removed from the roster of students going to the retreat. These forms are as essential as, if not more essential than, the payments themselves. There will be PCORI Representatives stationed at the caf entrance to receive your forms starting from 1500h to 1700h.
Official announcements regarding the retreat (roomings, letters, etc) will be made in due time. Please be on standby for these. However, please be informed that any conflicts created by items deemed unnecessary or whatnot (e.g. play scripts, PBP boats, Food Sci "I-have-no-idea-what-you-guys-might-bring-so-yeah"s, and the like) will be resolved immediately.

Palancas are due on the morning of the 15th of October, albeit the Council will start collecting on the afternoon of the 13th. Although this is not a requirement for the attendees, they are still highly encouraged to do so since it's part of making the retreat a more memorable and worthwhile experience. Please make sure that the receiver's FULL GIVEN NAME (yes, kailangan evident ang redundancy...:P) and SECTION are written on the palanca or on the envelope containing it (for sorting purposes, please understand). PLEASE SUBMIT THEM AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. It would be easier for us to sort your letters if you do so. Rest assured, however, that all respect will be given to the privacy of the sender, receiver, and the letter. If you are not convinced, you are free to seal the letter with...I don't know...pseudostratified columnated ciliated epithelial cells or whatever mechanisms you can think of.

For those who do not know how to make a palanca, here are some points to help you in making one:

What do you like/appreciate about that person?
What do you want to say to that person?
What are your wishes for that person?
A palanca is a feel-good letter. Try to focus on saying positive things about that person and on how to make him/her, well...big shock...feel good. If you can't refrain from saying negative things, it would be best if you just don't say them at all.
Of course, the points of a palanca are not limited to these. You can add or remove some if you wish it. It's your chance to say to that person everything (positive...as much as possible, dapat positive...:P) that you want to say. Aside from that, there are no rules regarding it's format, with the notable exception of the FULL GIVEN NAME and SECTION of the receiver placed in a conspicuous place. If you want to put your letter inside a can of San Marino Corned Tuna and/or Tuna Paella, although that would be nothing short of deplorable, you can do so. Furthermore, the sky's the limit with regards to the number of palancas you want to write. If you want to write 5 palancas to everybody who's going to attend (that's 1 080 palancas...:P), then by all means, please do so.

The retreat aims to be one of the most enjoyable and memorable events in the year. Let's all make sure that it becomes such by fulfilling the necessary obligations we have on our shoulders.

For any questions, please do feel free to approach any batch officer. We would be very happy to give respond to these.

Thank you.

Ramayana.

Before anything else, let's start with an outline/transcript of the letter Ma'am Sagucio read at the Director's Meeting this afternoon.

Dear Batch 2012, 2012 presidents and directors,

I commend you all for your discipline, obedience to the rules, etc., etc.

Unfortunately, there have been additional complaints regarding Ramayana.
*Time Management
*Dealing with Family- not spending enough time with them, forcing parents to pay (despite them giving the money in the first place, ahem)
*competitive mindset (apparently, striving for excellence is not a requirement in English)
*2 sections have gone above the expense limit.

There is to be no pinning of blame.

Because the admin does not want these unfortunate incidents to continue (Ramayana is turning us into something else. Chemical change, haha. Chemical change.)

Ramayana will be continued, on the conditions that:
*It shall no longer be a contest.
*Make use of the props, posters and costumes you have. Whatever you have finished will be the ones used.

So yeah. There. Here are additional clarifications.
Lithium Ramayana will be on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, from 2:30-4:10. Venue will be the auditorium. We are still doing this for our English grades.

We will have practice on October 13, 2010, after perio.
Guys, I know some of you have other things to do. That is acknowledged. But please, please, please, look at the logic here. Yes, Math is an important subject. Yes, it is a million times more important than the Humanities, but when is the music video due? It's due on the third quarter. When is Ramayana? It was moved up to Tuesday, in less than two weeks. How many days can we practice for Ramayana at this rate? 3 days. Graded pa rin 'to. I know. Pagod na kayo. May iba pang gagawin, but please, if you can't do it for Lithium, please do it for Ma'am Sagucio. She fought for this, too.

We will also have practice on October 14, 2010, all breaks, and from dismissal to six. Hindi tayo manghihingi ng klase sa mga teacher, but we can make use of our own time.

From October 15-17 will be the retreat. (Palanca due date was moved to Oct. 15, morning.) There is to be no practice, except during your free time. Maybe a little line reading, that's all. For those left behind at school, we will practice, for the sake of being productive.
October 18, Monday, we will practice as much as we can. The same goes for the morning of October nineteen. Or at least, during English that time.

Guys, I'm really sorry. I know some of you want to scrap Ramayana. Some of you want Ramayana as a whole, but that's as much as we could ask for from the admin. We may not be satisfied, but let's face it, loves, we're just that awesome and we'll have to deal.

Just a friendly reminder. :-j

From Wednesday, October 6, 2010 to end of English perio, Wednesday ,October 13, 2010, there is to be no Ramayana practice, no working of props and no mention of the word Ramayana. The teachers and authorities should not see anything related to Ramayana--not even a teensy little styrofoam ball. If this happens, then Ramayana will be called off.

On Wednesday, October 13, 2010, afternoon, there will be Ramayana practice for Lithium. Ten to six or ten to sawa. =))

On Thursday, October 14, 2010, there will be practice for Lithium also, from 2:30 to 6:00 because we have to work double time.

From October 15 to 17, there will be retreat and there is to be no practice for Ramayana, save for memorization of lines and only during free time. The time spent in retreat is for batch bonding and enlightenment, and not Ramayana. :p

The week of October 18 to 21, we will have practice every dismissal time and free/vacant period.

The dress and tech rehearsal plus the deadline of posters will be on October 20, 2010.

Playdate will still be on October 22.

***
Urgent Note from the CISD: Please, please, please focus on your perios this week! Since there is a lot of vacant time, mag-aral daw tayo. Party sa lib. =)) No thoughts about anything daw except studies. :))

Thanks so much, guys! :D

"There will absolutely no Ramayana practice, work or even any mention of Ramayana. It is prohibited until Wednesday, end of English Perio. Schedules of deadlines were moved to week after perio, but play date is still on 22. Li should focus on perio this week, but strict practice after perio and after retreat."
